Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 23, 2026
Last updated: May 23, 2026
Stephen Goodger (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the curlIQ mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the App.
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Summary
curlIQ is a curling team and game management app.
Most data stays on your device. We do not require you to create an account.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking in the App.
AI features send certain statistics and labels you have entered (such as team names) to our server so we can generate coaching reports.
Purchases are processed by Apple; we do not receive your payment card details.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide in the App
You may enter and store on your device:
- People: player first and last names; one player may be marked as “you.”
- Teams: team names, rosters, and related game data.
- Clubs: club name, city, province, sheet configuration, and optional contact details (phone, email, website) that you choose to add.
- Events: leagues, bonspiels, seasons, schedules, entry fees, and registration details.
- Games: scores, ends, hammer assignments, rock assignments, notes, strategies, and derived statistics.
- Exports: when you export or share reports, you choose how to send them (for example, Mail or the system share sheet).
- We do not require your real name, email address, or phone number to use the App unless you choose to enter contact information for a club.
2.2 Information stored automatically on your device
The App stores some preferences and usage counters locally using your device’s storage (for example, Apple’s UserDefaults and SwiftData), including:
- selected appearance theme;
- game and AI report credit balances;
- whether you have completed the welcome onboarding;
- identifiers of processed in-app purchase transactions (to avoid granting the same credits twice).
- This information is not uploaded to our servers by default.
2.3 Information sent when you use AI features
When you generate an AI report (pre-game, post-game, performance, trend, matchup, or similar), the App sends a request over the internet to our Cloudflare worker.
That request may include:
- team and opponent names;
- game and season statistics (records, efficiency metrics, trends, and related analytical context);
- prompt text built from your stored data to produce the report.
We do not intentionally send your Apple ID, device advertising identifier, or payment information with these requests.
Our server forwards the request to a third-party AI provider (currently Anthropic Claude via OpenRouter, model family as configured in the App) to generate the response. The generated report is saved on your device unless you choose to export or share it.
AI reports may be cached on your device for a limited time to reduce repeat requests.
2.4 Purchases
The App offers consumable in-app purchases (game bundles and AI report bundles) through Apple’s App Store (StoreKit). Apple collects and processes payment information according to Apple’s Privacy Policy. We receive only what Apple provides for purchase fulfillment (such as product identifiers and transaction verification), not your full payment card number.
2.5 Information we do not collect
Based on the current App design, we do not:
- require account registration or passwords;
- collect precise location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone data through the App;
- use third-party analytics, advertising, or App Tracking Transparency frameworks;
- sync your curling data to our own cloud servers (data is stored locally on your device unless you use AI or share/export content yourself).
- If we add new data practices, we will update this policy.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide core App features (tracking games, teams, clubs, leagues, bonspiels, statistics, and strategies);
- generate AI coaching and analysis reports when you request them;
- manage credits and in-app purchases;
- remember your settings and onboarding state;
- improve reliability and security of the App and our AI service.
- We do not use your information for targeted advertising across other companies’ apps or websites.
4. How We Share Information
We may share information only in these situations:
| Recipient | What is shared | Why |
| Our AI proxy server (Cloudflare Worker) | Prompt content described in Section 2.3 | To process your AI report request |
| AI model provider (e.g., OpenRouter / Anthropic) | Same prompt content, as routed by our server | To generate the AI response |
| Apple | Purchase and device/account data per Apple’s policies | To process in-app purchases |
| Apps/services you choose | Exported HTML or shared content | When you use Mail, Share Sheet, or similar features you initiate |
Legal requirements
Information we are required to disclose
To comply with law, court order, or protect rights and safety
We do not sell personal information.
5. Data Retention
On-device data remains on your device until you delete it in the App, delete the App, or reset your device. Some developer-only tools (if enabled in debug builds) can reset local data.
AI reports stored in the App may expire after a defined period (for example, seven days) and may be regenerated.
Server-side retention: Our AI worker may temporarily process requests in memory.
We do not design the App to maintain a permanent, account-linked copy of your full database on our servers.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable technical measures appropriate to the App, including HTTPS for network requests and Apple’s platform security for on-device storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
You are responsible for securing your device (passcode, Face ID, backups).
7. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at support@curliq.ca and we will take appropriate steps.
8. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal information.
In the App, you can:
- view, edit, or delete players, teams, clubs, games, and related records;
- avoid using AI features if you do not want statistics or names sent to our server;
- manage purchases through Apple’s subscription and purchase settings;
- delete the App to remove locally stored data (subject to device backups).
- To contact us about privacy requests: support@curliq.ca
We will respond as required by applicable law (for example, GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA/CPRA where applicable).
9. International Users
If you use the App outside Canada, your information may be processed in Canada and in countries where our service providers operate (including the United States). Those countries may have different data protection laws than your country.
10. California Privacy Notice (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident:
We collect the categories described in Section 2 for the business purposes in Section 3.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under California law.
You may have the right to know, delete, and correct certain personal information, and to opt out of sale/sharing (not applicable if we do not sell/share as defined). Contact support@curliq.ca
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at https://curliq.ca/privacy and change the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy where permitted by law.
